Description
Nick O'Leary Four Mile Sangiovese is a Tuscan grape grown in the Canberra District.
Sangiovese needs warmth to ripen its tannin but keeps a high natural acidity, and the Canberra District's hot days and cold nights suit it better than most Australian regions. Nick O'Leary started his label in 2007 after working at Jeir Creek and Kamberra, and built a reputation on Riesling and Shiraz from growers around Murrumbateman and Lake George; Four Mile is one of those named sites. The wine is fermented with a portion of whole bunches and matured in older French oak, so the structure stays bright.
Serve at 16 degrees with pasta al ragù, pizza, grilled sausages or pecorino. Drink over five years.
