Description

Nicolas-Jay Affinités Chardonnay is a blended Oregon Chardonnay combining several Willamette Valley sites into one expressive wine.

Behind the label are a Burgundian winemaker and an American music executive: Jean-Nicolas Méo, who runs Domaine Méo-Camuzet in the Côte de Nuits, and Jay Boberg. Their shared love of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay led them to the Willamette Valley, where Méo applies the same attention to site and texture he brings to his Burgundy estate. The 2021 opens with green apple, toasted brioche and lemon curd, then tangerine, pomelo, nectarine and pear, framed by lively acidity and chalky minerality. The winery rates it an exquisite vintage that will evolve well in the cellar.

At around 10 to 12 degrees it suits seared scallops, lobster rolls or veal in a creamy sauce. Give it a short decant if opening now.
