Nicolas-Jay Willamette Valley L'Ensemble Pinot Noir 2023

Nicolas-Jay Willamette Valley L'Ensemble Pinot Noir is a barrel-selected blend from across the valley, made by Burgundian Jean-Nicolas Méo.

Created by Méo and his friend Jay Boberg, this Oregon winery brings Côte de Nuits thinking to the cool Willamette Valley. For L'Ensemble, individual barrels from different sites are tasted and chosen, then brought together into one wine, with new French oak adding frame. The 2023 is deep purple and effusive, with forest floor, pomegranate, cherry cola, apple blossom, fresh herbs and raspberry, then cherry, tangerine and blue fruit on a textured, elastic palate with fine tannins and a long, graceful finish.

Open it about half an hour ahead and pour at cool room temperature with duck confit, pork belly or a beetroot and goat's cheese tart. It has the structure to age for years.
