Description
Nicole Lamarche Gevrey-Chambertin is a single-barrel wine from 80-year-old vines lying metres from Mazoyères-Chambertin.
Gevrey-Chambertin is the largest of the great Côte de Nuits communes and the one most associated with power and structure. Nicole Lamarche buys the fruit here through her négociant business and has now worked with the same grower for three vintages. The vineyard was planted by the grower's grandfather, the vines are eighty years old, and the plot sits just metres from the Grand Cru Mazoyères-Chambertin, on the left as you come into the commune from the Morey-Saint-Denis side. The lieu-dit is called Aux Echézeaux, which is a pleasing coincidence for a Vosne producer. Production runs to a single barrel. The wine was vinified in amphora and aged in old oak, and the result is refined rather than forceful, with dark cherry and blackberry fruit, subtle spice, fine tannins and mineral freshness.
Good from three years and will hold ten. Serve at 16-18°C with roast lamb, duck or a beef daube.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
