Description
Nicole Lamarche Clos de Vougeot is assembled from three parcels spread across the top, middle and bottom of the grand cru.
Clos de Vougeot covers 50 hectares behind its medieval wall, and the ground inside it varies enormously from the château at the top to the road at the foot, which is why the holding matters as much as the name. Lamarche farms 1.35 hectares in total: two small plots near the château in the section known as Montiotes Hautes, one in the middle on the Vosne side in the area historically called Petits Maupertuis, and one lower down near the RN74 in Baudes Basses. The parcels are picked together and co-fermented in open-top wooden vats. Nicole Lamarche took over the family domaine in Vosne-Romanée and has moved its wines towards a finer, more transparent style, and this is a notably lacy expression of a vineyard better known for weight.
Give it five to eight years and expect it to hold well beyond that. Serve at 16-18°C with roast game bird, beef fillet or a truffled mushroom dish.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
