Description

Nicole Lamarche Grand Cru Monopole La Grande Rue is a 1.65-hectare grand cru owned outright by the Lamarche family since 1933.

The vineyard dates to the fifteenth century and takes its name from the minor road that borders it as it climbs above Vosne-Romanée. After La Romanée it is the smallest of the village's grands crus, and its situation is remarkable even by local standards: it borders La Tâche to the south, of which it is the direct continuation, and lies across a narrow road from La Romanée-Conti, La Romanée and Romanée-Saint-Vivant to the north. The style is often described as a prettier, more delicate reading of La Tâche, though Clive Coates MW places it closer to Romanée-Saint-Vivant. Nicole Lamarche farms it with low yields and vinifies with restrained extraction, and set beside the domaine's Echézeaux, Grands Echézeaux and Clos de Vougeot its depth is plain enough.

A wine for the cellar, best from ten years and lasting decades. Serve at 16-18°C with roast game, truffled poultry or aged Comté.

*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
