Nicole Lamarche Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes comes from the largest and most celebrated of the Meursault Premier Crus.

Les Charmes runs along the slope between Perrières and Genevrières, on deeper, stonier soils split into an upper and lower section, and it is prized for combining the power Meursault is known for with a certain seductive roundness. It is the largest of the commune's Premier Crus and one of the most consistently admired. Nicole Lamarche is best known for the reds of Vosne-Romanée, but her négociant range has extended into the Côte de Beaune, and the same principles apply: careful sourcing, restrained oak and an emphasis on freshness over weight. Here the ripe stone fruit and subtle richness of the site are laid over a spine of acidity and mineral drive, so the wine is long and poised rather than broad. It is a quietly authoritative expression of a famous vineyard.

Worth five to twelve years in the cellar. Serve at 10-12°C with lobster, roast chicken or veal in a cream sauce.
