Nicole Lamarche Meursault Les Vireuils is a hillside lieu-dit known for more tension than the appellation's usual richer style.

Les Vireuils sits high on the slope above the village of Meursault, well above the Premier Cru band, on thin soils over limestone. That altitude and exposure make it one of the commune's most highly regarded village-level sites, since it consistently produces wines of greater cut and mineral definition than the fuller, rounder style many associate with Meursault. Nicole Lamarche buys the fruit through her négociant activity and treats it much as she does her Pinot Noir: carefully, with restrained oak and an emphasis on preserving freshness. The wine combines citrus and stone-fruit flavours with a chalky precision, vibrant acidity and impressive persistence, and it is refined and energetic rather than opulent. It is a good illustration of why the hillside lieux-dits of Meursault have been gaining attention.

Drinking well from release and good for eight years. Serve at 10-12°C with grilled fish, roast chicken or a soft cheese.
