Nicole Lamarche Nuits-Saint-Georges 2022

Nicole Lamarche Nuits-Saint-Georges is a négociant bottling from organically farmed vines in Les Herbues and Aux Tuyaux, at the Vosne end of the appellation.

Nicole Lamarche began making small quantities of négoce wine in 2021 alongside the family domaine at Vosne-Romanée. The two lieux-dits here sit just off the D974 before the road enters Vosne, in the northern sector of Nuits-Saint-Georges where the wines tend to be finer and more perfumed than those from the sturdier southern end of the commune. The soils are rich in clay and the vines are around forty years old, farmed organically by the grower. Roughly a third of the cuvée was raised in the bespoke amphorae Lamarche has made by an artist in Italy, with the balance in cask. For her the wine has the identity of Nuits with something of the finesse of Vosne.

Good from two or three years and holding for eight, it suits duck, roast beef or mushroom dishes. Serve at 16 to 18°C.
