Description

Ocean Eight Pinot Noir is an elegant, perfumed red from the Aylward family's cool Mornington Peninsula vineyards.

Winemaker Mike Aylward has made his name with three grapes that suit the maritime climate here: this one, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. The vines are around Shoreham, up on the Peninsula's cooler side. This estate bottling is made to drink with freshness and perfume, showing the red-fruited, fine-boned side of the local style.

Bright and supple, with red cherry and gentle tannins. A slight chill brings out the freshness, so aim for 14–16°C and serve it with roast duck, salmon, mushroom dishes or charcuterie.
