Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée Margot 2022

Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée Margot is a supple red Burgundy drawn from vineyards across the Côte de Beaune.

Founded in Puligny-Montrachet in 1984, the house of Olivier Leflaive combines its own vineyards with carefully sourced grapes and is best known for white Burgundy. This red takes its name from one of Olivier's daughters, with a playful nod to Château Margaux. The Pinot Noir comes from around twenty plots between Santenay and Pernand-Vergelesses, mostly on silty clay soils. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in open vats, then the wine is matured for more than a year, mostly in oak barrels with only a small share of new wood, to keep the focus on fresh red fruit.

Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees, or a touch cooler in summer, with roast chicken, charcuterie, grilled pork or a mushroom tart. It's an approachable Burgundy that drinks well young.
