Olivier Leflaive Meursault 2023

Olivier Leflaive Meursault is a broad, generous Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune village best known for rich white Burgundy.

The Leflaive name has been tied to Puligny-Montrachet for centuries, and in 1984 Olivier set up his own business there, buying grapes from trusted growers across the Côte de Beaune and gradually adding vineyards of his own. Meursault lies just north of Puligny, and its clay and limestone slopes tend to give fuller, rounder wines than its neighbours. Parcels are pressed gently, then fermented and matured in French oak barrels. This bottling shows the soft, ample side of Meursault, with a little spice and a long, mellow finish.

Lightly chilled, at about 12 degrees, it is a treat with lobster, roast chicken, creamy risotto, pan-seared scallops or a ripe Brie. It is drinking well already and has the weight to age for another five to eight years.
