Olivier Leflaive Meursault Les Clous 2022

Olivier Leflaive Meursault Les Clous is a single-vineyard village wine from a named climat on the higher ground of Meursault.

Les Clous sits on the upper slopes of the commune, above the line of premier crus, where the soil is thin, the limestone close to the surface and the air a little cooler through the season. Sites at this height are classified at village level rather than premier cru, but the better ones have long been bottled separately by growers who believe the parcel has something particular to say. Meursault itself is the largest white commune of the Côte de Beaune and, unusually, has no grand cru. Olivier Leflaive founded his house in Puligny-Montrachet in 1984 and works both as a domaine and as a négociant; the wine is fermented and aged in barrel.

Serve at around 11 to 12 degrees with white fish, poultry or shellfish; a few years in bottle will not go astray.
