Description

Olivier Leflaive Puligny Montrachet is a village-level white Burgundy from the Côte de Beaune commune that the Leflaive family has called home for generations.

Puligny-Montrachet lies between Meursault and Chassagne, and its limestone-rich soils are known for giving Chardonnay with a firm line and floral lift. Based in the village itself, the house was founded in 1984 by Olivier Leflaive and draws on a mix of estate vineyards and fruit bought from growers it has worked with for many years. Grapes are harvested by hand and pressed gently, then the juice ferments in French oak barrels with a restrained proportion of new wood. Time on fine lees adds texture without masking the cut and mineral feel that the appellation is known for.

This is a poised Chardonnay that is best served cool but not icy, around 10 to 12 degrees. Try it with grilled fish, prawns, crab, goat's cheese or a simple roast chicken. It is approachable now and will keep developing for five years or more.
