Description
Olivier Leflaive Puligny Montrachet is the village wine of the commune this house has called home since it was founded.
Puligny-Montrachet is the most exacting of the great white villages of the Côte de Beaune, sharing Le Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet with its neighbours and lending its name to all three. The water table sits high beneath the village, which is why there are almost no underground cellars in Puligny and why growers here work in above-ground cuveries, a small piece of geology with real consequences for how the wines are raised. Olivier Leflaive founded his maison in the village in 1984, coming from a family long established there, and built the business on white Burgundy both grown and bought. Village Puligny is barrel fermented and matured on lees.
Serve at around 12 degrees with shellfish, white fish or poultry.
