Olivier Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Enseignères 2022

Olivier Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet Enseignères is a rich village Puligny from a site lying just below the Bâtard-Montrachet grand cru.

Les Enseignères is one of the most sought-after village vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet, set on the lower slope beneath Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. Brown soils over limestone bedrock give wines of real power and concentration for a village appellation. From its base in the heart of Puligny since 1984, the house assembles this wine from four small plots across the vineyard. The Chardonnay is hand-picked, pressed as whole grapes and fermented in oak barrels. It is then matured for eighteen months, including a spell in stainless steel, with about a fifth new oak in the barrel portion.

A generous style, it's best poured at around 12 to 14 degrees with roast chicken, crab or pork in a mustard cream sauce. It drinks well now and should keep improving for several years.
