Ox Hardy 1891 Ancestor Vines Shiraz Gift Box 2021

Ox Hardy 1891 Ancestor Vines Shiraz is the flagship wine of Ox Hardy, made from Shiraz vines planted in 1891 at the Upper Tintara vineyard in Blewitt Springs.

These gnarled old vines are among the historic plantings of McLaren Vale, and Andrew 'Ox' Hardy, whose family name runs deep in South Australian wine, bottles them separately as his top Shiraz. Old vines like these naturally crop low, giving small berries with concentration and fine structure. In the glass it is dark with ruby and purple tones, offering blueberry, dark cherry and a hint of spice. Red fruits carry through the palate over savoury tannins, leading to a graceful, elegant finish. This release comes presented in a gift box, making it a handsome present for a Shiraz lover.

Decant for an hour and serve at 16 to 18 degrees. It pairs beautifully with roast venison, a beef Wellington or hard aged cheeses. With its fine structure it will cellar well for 10 years or more.
