Ox Hardy Blewitt Springs Grenache 2024

Ox Hardy Blewitt Springs Grenache is a perfumed red from the sandy sub-region many regard as McLaren Vale's best address for Grenache.

Blewitt Springs has become the go-to district for fine-boned Grenache, as its deep sands and higher elevation give aromatic wines with bright acidity and fine tannin. Andrew 'Ox' Hardy, who comes from one of South Australia's best-known wine families, draws on fruit from this area for his Grenache. Bright ruby with purple hints, it shows cranberry, pomegranate and raspberry with light spice and a bittersweet, Campari-like note. The palate carries generous fruit weight, held together by structured tannins.

A light chill helps here, so aim for 14 to 16 degrees. Serve with charcuterie, spiced lamb kofta, duck with cherries or a mushroom pizza.
