Description
Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Bric dël Fiasc' DOCG is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Barolo zone.
Bric dël Fiasc is the Piedmontese dialect name for the Fiasco vineyard, on the ridge below the village of Castiglione Falletto, a commune whose soils sit on the divide between the sandier ground of the Serralunga side and the bluer marls of La Morra and Barolo. Paolo Scavino began bottling the site on its own in the late 1970s, among the earlier single-vineyard Barolo in the zone, and it has been the estate's calling card ever since. The family has been at Castiglione Falletto since 1921. Barolo must be Nebbiolo alone and is aged at least 38 months before release, 18 of them in wood.
It is worth decanting and suits braised beef, game or aged hard cheese; in a good cellar it will keep and improve for two decades or more.
