Description
Paolo Scavino Barolo Monvigliero DOCG Museum Release is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from Monvigliero, the celebrated cru of Verduno in Piemonte. Often regarded as the village’s “grand cru”, Monvigliero is particularly prized for producing Barolo of exceptional finesse and elegance. Paolo Scavino first worked with fruit from the vineyard in 2000, before acquiring its Monvigliero holdings and eventually bottling the site as an individual cru.
Paolo Scavino was founded in Castiglione Falletto in 1921 and has become one of Barolo’s benchmark family estates, with a particular focus on expressing the differences between its great Nebbiolo vineyards. Monvigliero represents the more graceful side of Barolo, combining the structure and longevity of Nebbiolo with the refined character for which Verduno is renowned. As a Museum Release, the 2011 offers the added appeal of significant bottle maturity and the opportunity to experience this distinguished cru with more than a decade of development behind it.
Decant carefully and serve at around 16 to 18 degrees with braised beef, roast game, porcini, truffle dishes or mature Piedmontese cheeses.
