Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Prapò' DOCG 2019

Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Prapò' DOCG is a single-vineyard Barolo from the steep eastern flank of Serralunga d'Alba.

Prapò sits just above the village of Serralunga, on the ridge that runs down the eastern side of the Barolo zone. The soils here are older and more compact than those of the western communes, and the wines they give are correspondingly firm and slow to unwind, which is why Serralunga has always been the reference point for longevity in Barolo. Paolo Scavino is based at Castiglione Falletto, where the family has made wine since 1921; Enrico Scavino has directed the estate since the 1950s and is now joined by his daughters Enrica and Elisa. The Nebbiolo sees a long maceration and ageing in French oak.

Best decanted well ahead of serving at around 18 degrees, with braised or roasted red meat, or with aged cheese. It will continue to develop in bottle for many years.
