Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Ravera' DOCG 1.5L MAGNUM 2020

Paolo Scavino Barolo 'Ravera' DOCG comes from a high, cool cru in the commune of Novello, on the south-western edge of the Barolo zone.

Ravera rises to some of the highest elevations in the appellation, and its exposed position and later ripening have made it one of the most sought-after sites in Barolo over the past two decades. The vineyard straddles the boundary of Novello and Barolo itself, and its wines are typically built on structure and freshness rather than early charm. The Scavino family have farmed from Castiglione Falletto since 1921, with Enrico Scavino leading the estate since the 1950s and his daughters Enrica and Elisa alongside him. Long maceration and maturation in French oak follow the house style.

Serve at around 18 degrees after a thorough decant, with braised veal, game birds or truffle-scented pasta. It has the structure to reward a decade or more in the cellar, and benefits from a generous decant when opened young.
