Description
Paolo Scavino Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata comes from the most highly regarded vineyard in La Morra and is the estate's longest-aged wine.
Rocche dell'Annunziata is a narrow band of vines on a steep escarpment above the hamlet of Annunziata in La Morra, and it has been considered one of the greatest sites in Barolo for well over a century. The soils are lighter and sandier than those of the eastern communes, which is usually credited for the perfume and finesse of the wines. Scavino releases this only as a Riserva, after ageing far beyond the five years the category requires. The family estate at Castiglione Falletto dates to 1921 and has been led by Enrico Scavino since the 1950s, now with his daughters Enrica and Elisa.
Decant with care and serve at around 18 degrees with roast or braised meat, truffle dishes or aged cheese. It is among the longest-lived wines in the region and can be kept for decades.
