Paul Bara Bouzy Rouge 375ml 2020

Paul Bara Bouzy Rouge is a still red Pinot Noir from grand cru Bouzy, made under the Coteaux Champenois appellation and offered here in half bottle.

Coteaux Champenois is the appellation for the still wines of Champagne, made in small volumes and only when the season delivers enough ripeness to justify them. Bouzy is the best known name for the red version: a grand cru village on the south facing flank of the Montagne de Reims, where chalk lies close to the surface and Pinot Noir reaches maturity more reliably than in most of the region. The Bara family has grown vines here since 1833 and holds around eleven hectares, all within the village. This is Pinot Noir alone, from grand cru parcels, made as a light framed red and matured without recourse to new oak, so the fruit and the chalk driven acidity stay in the foreground.

Pale, fine boned and high in acidity, the half bottle suits a single course of charcuterie, roast poultry or mushrooms; serve cool, at fourteen or fifteen degrees.
