Paul Bara Grand Millésime 1.5L MAGNUM 2018

Paul Bara Grand Millésime is the estate's vintage Champagne, made entirely from grand cru Bouzy fruit and offered here in magnum.

Bouzy is one of the seventeen grand cru villages of Champagne, on the south facing slope of the Montagne de Reims, and its reputation rests on Pinot Noir that ripens more fully than almost anywhere else in the region. The Bara family has farmed here since 1833 and works around eleven hectares, every parcel inside the village. Grand Millésime is declared only in years the estate considers complete in themselves, built on Pinot Noir from the better sites with Chardonnay for lift, made without recourse to reserve wine and left on lees in the chalk cellars for several years before disgorgement. Dosage is modest, at six grams per litre. The magnum format, with its greater volume of wine to a single closure, ages more slowly still.

Broad and structured in the Bouzy manner and built for a table of six or more, it suits roast poultry, veal and washed rind cheese; serve at around eleven degrees.
