Paul Gros Bourgogne 'La Croix d'Argent' 2023

Paul Gros Bourgogne 'La Croix d'Argent' is a light-bodied red Burgundy from Pinot Noir grown in the Côte de Nuits.

Regional Bourgogne rouge depends almost entirely on where the grapes come from. The worthwhile ones are from the Côte de Nuits, on flatter ground below the village boundaries, where the soils are deeper and hold more clay, sometimes just metres from village-classified land. Pinot Noir from here is lighter and quicker to open, with red fruit, gentle tannin and a savoury, earthy edge. This is bottled as a named cuvée within the appellation.

Fresh and easy-going, with red cherry, raspberry and soft tannin. Serve lightly chilled at 14-16°C with charcuterie, roast chicken, salmon or a simple mushroom pasta.
