Pewsey Vale Vineyard 1961 Block Riesling 1.5L MAGNUM 2020

Pewsey Vale Vineyard 1961 Block Riesling is a single-block Eden Valley Riesling, here in a magnum.

The name honours 1961, the year the Hill-Smith family replanted vines at Pewsey Vale and helped revive viticulture in the high country of the Eden Valley. The fruit comes from a specific block on the estate, and the magnum format helps the wine age slowly and gracefully. It is pristine and intense, with lemon myrtle and tea tree blossom and a crushed-quartz minerality. Taut and linear in youth, it is seamless and will please early drinkers and cellar collectors alike.

The winemakers suggest kingfish sashimi with chilli lime dressing, or vegetable spring rolls with Vietnamese herbs. Serve chilled, and a magnum makes it an easy centrepiece for a long lunch.
