Description
Pierre de Segonzac Cognac Rare is a well-aged cognac from a family house in the heart of Grande Champagne, in a handy 200ml bottle.
In the village of Segonzac, in the middle of the region's first growth, the family grow their own Ugni Blanc and distil it on the property. The soft, chalky soils here produce the slowest-maturing, longest-lived brandies in Cognac. Distillation is twice through a traditional Charentais copper pot still, keeping the heart of the second run. Slow oxidation and evaporation in French oak casks in the family cellars build complexity, and this bottling draws on well-aged reserves, bottled at 40% alcohol.
Smooth and dry, with dried fruit, vanilla, nuts and rancio depth. After dinner, pour it neat at room temperature into a tulip glass and pair it with dark chocolate, walnuts or a good coffee. The small bottle makes a nice gift.
