Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet rouge La Boudriotte is a premier cru red from a commune far better known today for its whites.

Chassagne-Montrachet was historically a red wine village and still has a substantial area of Pinot Noir, mostly on the heavier, iron-rich clay at the southern end of the commune. La Boudriotte lies there, on the slope running towards Santenay, and is one of the handful of climats that have always been considered best suited to red: the wines are dark fruited, firm and earthy, with more grip and less perfume than Volnay, and they age well. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is based in Chassagne and is best known for his whites; the reds are handled with the same restraint, fermented gently and aged in barrel with very little new oak so the character of the site shows through.

Dark fruited and firm, it suits game, beef and mushroom dishes; serve at around 16 degrees.
