Pierrick Laroche Chablis 1.5L MAGNUM 2023

Pierrick Laroche Chablis is a village level Chardonnay from the Kimmeridgian limestone of northern Burgundy, in magnum.

Chablis lies at the northern edge of Burgundy, closer to Champagne than to the Cote d'Or, and its Chardonnay grows almost entirely on Kimmeridgian marl, a grey clay and limestone laid down in a shallow sea and packed with fossilised oyster shell. That soil, combined with a cool continental climate and a real risk of spring frost, gives a white of high natural acidity, moderate alcohol by Burgundian standards and a distinctly chalky finish. Village Chablis is generally raised in stainless steel or older wood so that the site rather than the cellar does the talking, and it is usually bottled young.

Lean, dry and citrus driven, it is the classic partner for oysters, shellfish and fresh goat cheese; serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
