Pierrick Laroche Chablis Bougros Grand Cru 2023

Pierrick Laroche Chablis Bougros is a grand cru Chablis from the westernmost of the appellation's seven grand cru climats.

Bougros sits at the far north western end of the grand cru hillside above the right bank of the Serein, where the slope turns and the Kimmeridgian marl carries a heavier band of clay. It is typically the broadest and most immediately generous of the seven grand crus, with less of the flinty severity found in Les Clos or Valmur, though it still needs time to settle. Pierrick Laroche farms from Maligny in the north of the appellation, working village and premier cru land alongside this grand cru holding. The wine is bottled under a Diam closure, chosen for its consistency and for the protection it offers a Chablis of this weight over a long cellar life.

Rich but taut, it will reward five to ten years in bottle and suits roast chicken, veal or richer shellfish; serve at around 12 degrees.
