Pierrick Laroche Domaine des Hâtes Chablis Beauroy 2023

Pierrick Laroche Domaine des Hâtes Chablis Beauroy is a premier cru from the broad left-bank valley above Poinchy, in the north west of the appellation.

Beauroy is one of the larger left-bank premier crus, a wide valley north west of the town that also takes in the climat of Troësmes. Its Kimmeridgian clay-limestone carries a little more clay than some neighbouring crus, and the aspect is broadly south east, giving wines that are generally rounder and readier than the tighter sites such as Vau de Vey while keeping the appellation's chalky spine. The estate is based at Maligny, at the cool northern end of the district, which keeps acidity firm. Premier cru fruit is vinified separately and given extended lees ageing to build texture. The wine is sealed with Diam, a technical cork chosen for consistency from bottle to bottle.

Generous for Chablis but still cut with acidity; serve at 11 to 12 degrees with scallops, poultry in cream, veal or hard mountain cheeses.
