Description

Pio Cesare Il Bricco is a single-vineyard Barbaresco from the Bricco vineyard at Treiso.

Treiso sits at the highest and coolest end of the Barbaresco zone, and Il Bricco occupies the top of a ridge there on calcareous marl, which gives Nebbiolo perfume and firm structure. Pio Cesare was founded at Alba in 1881 and remains family-run in the fifth generation. The wine is fermented with native yeast and aged in a combination of French barriques and large Slavonian casks.

Decant well ahead and serve at 17 degrees with braised beef, game or aged Parmigiano. It rewards twenty years.
