Description
Description
Pio Cesare Barbera d'Alba comes from the family's vineyards in the Barolo and Barbaresco communes.
Barbera is Piedmont's everyday red, high in acidity and low in tannin, and when it is planted on land good enough for Nebbiolo it produces something considerably more serious than its reputation suggests. Pio Cesare has been based at Alba since 1881, its cellars built into the town's old Roman walls. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged in a mix of barriques and casks.
Serve at 16 degrees with rich pasta, veal or roast pork. Drink over the next six years.
