Description
Description
Pio Cesare Barolo Mosconi is a single-vineyard Nebbiolo from a steep slope in Monforte d'Alba.
Mosconi sits high on the Monforte side of the Barolo zone, where the soils are sandier and the exposure southerly, giving wines of real power and firm tannin that need time. Pio Cesare bought into the vineyard relatively recently by the standards of a house founded in 1881. Fermentation is with native yeast, with ageing in French oak and large casks.
Decant several hours ahead and serve at 17 degrees with braised beef or game. It is built for twenty years.
