Description
Pio Cesare Riserva Timorasso Derthona is a full-bodied white from Piedmont.
Timorasso is a native Piedmontese white that had nearly vanished by the 1980s before growers around Tortona brought it back; Derthona is the Roman name for the town and the name the wines now carry. The grape gives a broad, mineral white with real weight and an unusual ability to age, closer in build to a white Burgundy than to the region's Arneis or Cortese. Pio Cesare, founded in Alba in 1881, releases its Riserva only after extended ageing.
Serve at 12 degrees with rich fish, veal or aged cheese. Drink over the next ten years.
