Pitchfork Cabernet Merlot 2025

Pitchfork Cabernet Merlot brings Margaret River's signature grape together with Merlot in a soft, generous everyday red.

Made by Hay Shed Hill in Wilyabrup, one of the original subregions of Margaret River, the Pitchfork wines are designed for drinking now at a friendly price. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, carrying the ripe blackberry and faint mint-chocolate character typical of the region's gravelly soils and mild, ocean-cooled growing season. Merlot adds plushness through the mid palate. The result has good concentration yet stays smooth, with tannins that are ripe and unobtrusive. This younger release carries a touch more alcohol than the 2023, reflecting the warmth of the season, and it comes under screw cap for freshness.

Pour it at 16 to 18 degrees alongside barbecued sausages, a lamb roast or cheeseburgers. A few minutes in the glass helps it open up, and it will drink well over the next few years.
