Place of Changing Winds Clos de la Connerie Late Bottling is a single-block Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir given extra time in cask.

Same wine as its sibling, four months longer in wood. The Clos is the north and northeast-facing amphitheatre planted in 2012 at the Bullengarook site, 12,500 vines per hectare, a block that consistently gives darker and more structured Pinot than anywhere else on the property. Two bottlings were made in 2019 purely to learn what extra cask time does: one barrique of the final blend stayed behind, and this is the version sealed with red wax. The additional élevage has left it noticeably more open and ready, though its cellaring potential is no less than the earlier release.

More forthcoming than its twin, with dark cherry, plum, woodsmoke and turned earth, and tannin already resolving. Depth and seduction in the same glass. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees. Roast duck, hare, or mushrooms with polenta.
