Place of Changing Winds Harcourt Marsanne Roussanne Magnum is a 1.5-litre bottling of the estate's Bendigo white blend.

Magnum format slows everything down, which suits a wine already built for the long run. The fruit shares its vineyard with the Harcourt Syrah. Grapes were picked at flavour ripeness, pressed gently and sent straight to 500- and 228-litre barrels and a 220-litre glass Wineglobe for fermentation and ageing, malolactic conversion arriving of its own accord. Twelve months in cask and glass were followed by eight in tank, with bottling at the end of November 2023. A cooler season and a good measure of Roussanne in the blend account for the freshness running through the richness.

Power and richness held up by real lift: quince, white peach, beeswax and a stony finish. It will turn honeyed with age and is generous already. Serve at 13 degrees. A magnum suits a table of six, with roast chicken, pork loin or a whole baked fish.
