Place of Changing Winds Mari Magno Pinot Noir 2022

Place of Changing Winds Mari Magno Pinot Noir is the estate's first-level Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir.

Fruit comes mainly from the échalas block, staked bush vines, co-planted, topped up from the neighbouring young-vine parcel. It was held an extra twelve months in bottle as an experiment in what that time would do for wine from these vines, and the answer turned out to be worth having. Going forward, the label gives the team room to declassify young-vine parcels and trial ferments that fall short of the top wines but still merit bottling. The name comes from Lucretius, who wrote of the pleasure of watching a ship tossed on rough seas from the safety of the shore, relief at being spared more than delight at another's trouble.

Bright and juicy, with layers of sweet red fruit and the aromatic complexity that extra year in bottle has brought. Soft tannin, easy line. Serve at 14 to 15 degrees. Charcuterie, roast chicken or a bowl of mushroom pasta suit it.
