Poderi Aldo Conterno Barolo DOCG Romirasco is a single vineyard Barolo from the highest of the estate's three parcels in the Bussia amphitheatre at Monforte d'Alba.

Aldo Conterno left the family firm in 1969 to set up on his own in the Bussia district of Monforte d'Alba, and the estate is now among the most admired in Piedmont. Romirasco sits above Cicala and Colonnello on the Bussia slope, on calcareous marl, and is the parcel that forms the backbone of the estate's Granbussia Riserva in the years that wine is made. It is planted to the Michet and Lampia subvarieties of Nebbiolo. Winemaking is deliberately traditional, with a long fermentation on skins and maturation in large Slavonian oak casks rather than barriques, followed by an extended rest in bottle. Monforte d'Alba, the southernmost of the Barolo communes, is known for wines built to last.

Decant several hours ahead and serve at about 18 degrees alongside braised or roasted meat, game or aged cheese; it is a wine that repays long cellaring.
