Pol Roger Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill Gift Box 2018

Pol Roger Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill Gift Box is the Épernay house's prestige champagne, presented in its own box.

The cuvée honours Winston Churchill, a lifelong drinker of Pol Roger and a friend of Odette Pol-Roger, whom he met in Paris in 1944. The house marked his death in 1965 by adding a black border to the labels of bottles shipped to Britain, and released the first vintage of this wine in 1984, from the 1975 harvest. It is made only in declared years, from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown on grand cru sites whose identity the family keeps to itself, in the robust style the house associates with his taste. Long ageing on the lees in the deep, cold cellars beneath Épernay precedes disgorgement, and every bottle is riddled by hand.

Serve at around 10 degrees in a white wine glass with roast poultry, lobster or a mature Comté; it will continue to improve for years after release.
