Poli Distillerie Cleopatra Moscato Oro 700mL NV

Poli Distillerie Cleopatra Moscato Oro is a wood aged grappa distilled from Moscato pomace by a family house in the Veneto.

The Poli family have been distilling at Schiavon, below Bassano del Grappa in the Veneto, since 1898, and are now in their fourth generation. Grappa is made not from wine but from vinaccia, the skins, pips and stems left behind after pressing, a by product turned spirit in its own right. Poli work with small copper stills heated by steam, distilling in batches so that each variety keeps its own character. The Cleopatra range is the distillery's presentation line, sold in a distinctive bottle, and the Moscato Oro is aged in wood, which is what the word oro signals on the label. Moscato pomace comes from the same grape that gives Asti its wine.

Serve at around 16 to 18 degrees in a small tulip glass after a meal, or alongside dessert and coffee.
