Poli Distillerie Marconi 46 Gin takes its name from the street address of the family distillery at Schiavon in the Veneto.

The Poli family have been distilling at Schiavon, below Bassano del Grappa in the Veneto, since 1898, and are now in their fourth generation. Gin is a departure for a house built on grappa, but the equipment and the habits are much the same: small copper stills heated by steam, batch distillation, and a preference for doing things slowly. Juniper leads, as the category requires, with a supporting cast of botanicals in the contemporary style. The distillery keeps its own museum at Bassano del Grappa, open free to the public and devoted to the history of distilling in the region, which gives some sense of how the family regard their trade.

Serve cold with a good tonic and ice, or use it in a martini or negroni.
