Poli Distillerie Po' Pinot Grappa 'Elegant' 700mL NV

Poli Distillerie Po' Pinot Grappa 'Elegant' is a grappa distilled from Pinot pomace by a family house in the Veneto.

The Poli family have been distilling at Schiavon, below Bassano del Grappa in the Veneto, since 1898, and are now in their fourth generation. The Po' di Poli range takes a single grape variety at a time and bottles it on its own, a practice that has become the mark of good modern grappa and a long way from the rough communal spirit of the past. This one is drawn from Pinot pomace, the skins and pips left after pressing, and is distilled in small copper stills heated by steam rather than run continuously. It is bottled without wood ageing, which leaves the character of the fruit and the still to speak for themselves.

Serve chilled to about 10 to 12 degrees in a small tulip glass at the end of a meal.
