Pooley Pinot Noir 1.5L MAGNUM 2025

Pooley Pinot Noir is a southern Tasmanian Pinot Noir from a family estate in the Coal River Valley, here in magnum.

The Coal River Valley runs north east of Hobart around the historic town of Richmond, and is one of the driest and most sheltered parts of Tasmania, protected from the westerly weather by the ranges behind it. That dry, cool climate gives Pinot Noir a long, even ripening season while keeping its natural acidity high. Pooley is a family business now in its third generation, with vineyards around Richmond and Campania on a mix of sandstone, dolerite and clay soils. Pinot Noir is the estate's main variety, hand picked and fermented in small open vats, then matured in French oak barrels of which only a portion are new, so that the fruit and the cool-climate structure stay at the centre of the wine. The large format bottle slows its development in the cellar.

Fine-boned and fresh, it suits duck, mushroom dishes, salmon and roast pork; serve slightly cool at around 15 to 16 degrees.
