Pooley Wines Pinot Noir 2025

Pooley Wines Pinot Noir is the estate's core Pinot Noir from the dry, sunny Coal River Valley in southern Tasmania.

Pooley Wines is a family estate in the Coal River Valley near Richmond, north east of Hobart, where the Pooley family planted their first vines in the mid 1980s and a third generation now runs the business, with Anna Pooley making the wines. The Coal River Valley sits in the rain shadow of the hills around Hobart, making it one of the driest and sunniest corners of Tasmania, yet the island's cool maritime climate keeps ripening slow and acidity high. Pinot Noir is the island's signature red grape and the backbone of the Pooley range. The fruit is fermented in small open vats with gentle handling, and the wine is matured in French oak barrel with a modest proportion of new wood so that the site's bright acidity and fine tannin lead. It is bottled under screwcap.

Fresh and fine-grained, it suits duck, salmon and mushroom dishes; serve slightly cool at around 15 degrees.
