Pooley Wines Riesling 2025

Pooley Wines Riesling is the estate's Coal River Valley Riesling, a variety for which the Pooley family is especially well known.

Pooley Wines is a family estate in the Coal River Valley near Richmond, north east of Hobart, where the Pooley family planted their first vines in the mid 1980s and a third generation now runs the business, with Anna Pooley making the wines. The Coal River Valley sits in the rain shadow of the hills around Hobart, making it one of the driest and sunniest corners of Tasmania, yet the island's cool maritime climate keeps ripening slow and acidity high. Riesling thrives in these conditions, keeping its racy natural acidity while the dry, sunny autumns bring the fruit to full flavour. The fruit is fermented cool in stainless steel to preserve purity and the wine is bottled young under screwcap, allowing it to develop well in the cellar.

Crisp and precise, it suits oysters, Vietnamese salads and grilled fish; serve well chilled at around 8 degrees.
