Primo Estate Merlesco Merlot 2026

Primo Estate Merlesco Merlot is a lively, fruit-forward red built for easy, anytime drinking.

Many Merlots aim for richness and weight, but this one goes the other way. The Grilli family winery in McLaren Vale crafts it to be bright and quaffable, with blackberry, blueberry and cherry fruit carried by crisp acidity and soft tannins. Its lighter style keeps the wine supple and refreshing from the first glass to the last. It reflects the family's Italian outlook, where red wine is simply part of the everyday table, and it is released young so the forest-fruit character is at its most vivid.

A short spell in the fridge before serving suits it well; aim for 14 to 16 degrees. Enjoy it with a midweek pasta, grilled chorizo, meatballs or a cheese board.
