Primo Estate Zamberlan 2024

Primo Estate Zamberlan blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese, given extra depth through a ripasso-style refermentation.

The technique behind this wine comes from Valpolicella, where young red wine is passed over grape skins left from Amarone to gain body and complexity. The Grilli family, whose Italian roots shape much of what they make, adapted it to McLaren Vale using skins from their own dried-grape red. The result is intense yet balanced. Cabernet contributes ripe dark berries and firm structure, Sangiovese brings a bright cherry note, and the second fermentation adds layers of cocoa and warm spice.

Pour at around 17 degrees. It is a natural fit for rich Italian cooking such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù, eggplant parmigiana or a hearty bistecca. Cellar it for five years or more if you like.
